But for now, I have notifications turned off at night and just catch up in the morning. One feature I would like is the ability to turn off notifications at night from, say, my front door camera (in case a car or someone walks past), but to allow the back garden camera to alert me and wake me up if it detects movement. The 5 second clips are perfect for watching activity on your phone. I like the fact that they integrate with Alexa so I can ask "Alexa, ask Blink to arm the system" as I leave and if I forget, I can use the app on my phone. I like the ability to set arm and disarm schedules. So after 6 months what do I reckon? Well I like them. But it's 6 months on now and the batteries are still showing as ok in both cameras, so despite the scepticism, I now beleive that they might well last 2 years! I'd be happy with 1 year to be honest. I was sceptical about the battery life and with the camera order, I ordered a spare set of batteries. But for a house, this shouldn't be an issue. Why can't each camera connect directly to the cloud? Why do they have to connect to the hub first and then the hub connect to the cloud? This has a disadvantage as it means you can't use the Blink cameras and hub in a large site as the cameras not only need to connect to wifi, they also need to connect to the hub and unlike wifi where you might have extenders or multiple access points, you only have one hub. The cameras were were easy to install but the hub needs connecting to wifi first. Then the original Blink cameras came on offer so I gave them a go.
